Obituary

Mr. Bobby Joe Timmons, Sr was born on August 7, 1954 to the late Dorothy Mae Timmons (Arthur) Godbolt and the late Ernest (Dorothy Echols) King, Sr. in Florence, South Carolina.  "Bobby Joe" as he was affectionately called,  entered into eternal rest on Thursday,  October 24, 2024.

Bobby Joe was educated in the Florence County public schools, he graduated  from Wilson High School class of 1974. His early work experience was Koppers Inc. After 20 years he retired to owning his own construction business he loved working with his hands. At an early age Bobby Joe was converted, baptized and became a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He loved teaching Sunday school. In 1977, Bobby Joe was joined in holy matrimony to Betty Jean Wheeler, they were blessed with five children. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Bobby Joe was affiliated with: Morning Light Lodge #430, Magdalene OES Chapter #63, L. E. Hyman Holy Royal Arch #72, Hiram Council Royal and Select Master #4, Alpha Omega Knight Templer #7, Pee Dee Consistory #197 and Crescent Temple #148.

in addition to his parents, Bobby Joe was preceded in death by a sister Mary Frances Timmons and a brother Ernest Lee king, Jr.

Bobby Joe leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Bobby Joe (Judy) Timmons, Jr. And Barton Jeremy (Delia) Timmons, of Columbia, South Carolina; three daughters, April Timmons (Joe)Park, of Charleston, South Carolina, Annie Beth (Daniel) Cherry, of Columbia, SC  and Afthan Chaffee (Roderick) Johnson of Effingham, SC; two brothers, Lonnie Godbolt of Florence, SC and MacArthur Godbolt, Jr., of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Jo Ann (George) Durant and Deborah Grice, both of Florence, SC; thirteen grandchildren: Zakya Douglas, Zakia Douglas, Trevor Timmons, Caleb Timmons, Savannah Johnson, Seth Johnson, Ethan Cherry, Savan Johnson, Noah Timmons, Eli Cherry, Zoe Timmons, Maximus Timmons, and Ava Park;  great granddaughter, Laila Harrison; two special nieces, Janet Timmons-Lonon, and Angela Hyman, both of Florence, SC; a special nephew, David Johnson, III, Salt Lake City, Utah; two special aunts he grew up with in the home, Cora Lee Timmons Hyman and Lenora Timmons, both of Florence, SC; Godmother, Jesse Mae Harley of Florence, SC;  Masonic brother and friend Charlie Dunham; a special friend Rhethia Steward, of Milton, Massachusetts; his close family friends for over 50 years Paul and Barbara Turner; His friend and caregiver Betty Wheeler; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
