Brenda Damon
Wilder
d. Oct 26, 2023
Brenda D. Wilder was born September 13, 1963, to Leila Dixon and the late Joe Louis Reed in Timmonsville, South Carolina. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
She was educated in the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Timmonsville High School with the class of 1981. She was an active participant during each homecoming after graduating.
Sis. Wilder worked for and retired from Chase Mortgage in 2013, as a Senior Tax Specialist. After retirement, she invested her time and talent in launching, a "Fresh Start", which was a non-profit organization designed to assist people experiencing food insecurity. She and her outreach team helped to uplift the community, and they were featured in the Florence Morning News, in 2016. The growth of this outreach effort grew from feeding twenty-five families to now feeding more than 200 families each month. After many years of community outreach, she started working as a cafeteria staff member and was quickly promoted to Cafeteria Assistant Manager, at McLaurin Elementary. The administrators, teachers, staff, and students loved "lunchtime" because they knew they would be fed well and greeted with a smile, by Mrs. Wilder. We all know Sis. Wilder was the Queen in the kitchen.
Sis. Wilder was baptized in Jesus' name in 1982, at a tent revival in Florence. After a few days, she received the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues at her grandmother's house.
She later joined and faithfully served at Greater Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church, Florence SC, under the leadership of the late District Elder Willie Lee Johnson and Suffragan Bishop Harold Sawyer, Sr. While attending Greater Zion, she served on the Young Adult Choir, Usher Board, Mime Ministry, and several other auxiliaries.
On April 13, 1985, she was joined in holy matrimony to Kenneth Wilder, Sr., and to this union, four children were born, Kenneth, Jr., Kristopher, Brittany, and Bethany.
Her loyalty to her husband, Elder Wilder, for thirty-eight years, was a display of the goodness of God. Elder and Sis. Wilder started New Deliverance Outreach Ministries in 2001, and as the Elect Lady, she assisted not only her husband but led the Children's and Outreach ministries. If you have ever attended any of the biblical skits and programs, all costumes, choreography, and décor were created by Sis. Wilder. Her ability to transform mediocracy to a masterpiece was her trademark.
Mrs. Wilder met no competition as a cook, especially southern cooking. The events she cooked for were well attended, because of her reputation of having good food, and a few to-go boxes for the road. It was her desire to start her own catering business, "A Catered Affair".
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ophelia Damon, her aunt, Virginia Johnson, and two uncles, Otis and Calvin Damon.
Those left to cherish her fond and precious memories are her loving and devoted husband, Elder Kenneth Wilder, Sr., of Florence;, SC; her children, Kenneth (Maisha) Wilder, Jr., Orlando, FL, Kristopher (Vivian) Wilder, Florence, SC, Brittany Wilder, and Bethany Wilder, both of Florence, SC; her loving mother, Leila Dixon, Timmonsville, SC; her brothers, Donnie Damon, Florence, SC, Eddie Damon, Timmonsville, SC, Ray Damon, Columbia, SC, Curtis Dixon, Jr., Raleigh, NC, Ron Dixon, Timmonsville, SC, Joseph Dixon, Timmonsville, SC, and Anthony (Thomosa) Dixon, Henderson, NC; twelve grandchildren; Imani Travis, Kaiden Wilder, Kristopher Wilder Jr, Harmony Green, Micah Wilder, Vashanti Wilder, Brooklyn Cockfield, Kion Wilder, Kimori Green, Bryson Wilder, Maverick Wilder, Konner Wilder a special niece and nephew, Meka Damon, Columbia, SC and Chip (Teasha) Damon, Florence, SC; god-children and special family members, Michelle Chestnut, Samaria Ancrum, Monique Hartage, Ryan McWhite, Ashley Windham; four aunts, Maggie Bennett, Shirley Timmons, Joann Ross, and Annie McCall, all of Florence, SC; two uncles, Lawton Damon, Jr. and Ernest Damon, both of Florence, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
