Ella Mae James was born February 7, 1942, to the late James Isaiah and Oretha Godfrey Isaiah on the Isaiah Family Farm. She departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on November 7, 2022, at MUSC of Florence, South Carolina.
"Mae" or "Big Mama" as she was affectionately called was employed as a Domestic Worker and worked on the Isaiah Family Farm for many years. She furthered her education in Florence County public school system. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and was filled with the Precious Holy Ghost! She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
Mae was preceded in death by a daughter Buffy Lewis, grandson Deacon Brian Davis who was reared in the home, her siblings, Elvena Isaiah, Lucinda Brunson, Annie Mae Harrison, Willie Lee Isaiah, Roosevelt Isaiah, James Isaiah and Jerome Isaiah.
Mae leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her children, Ella Mae Davis, Roosevelt James, David James, David (Samantha) Lewis, Katie Lewis and Elder Joey Lewis; a grandson, reared in the home, James Isaiah Lewis; grandchildren "her heart strings", Jessica (Brice) McFadden, Lekendra Hardy, Julia (Willie) Davis, Destiny, Marcus, and Oretha Lewis; seven beautiful great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly.
