Joseph Lee
Harper
d. Sep 9, 2022
A TIME TO BE BORN
Joseph Lee Harper was born in Belle Glade, Fl. on May 30, 1949, to the parentage of Albert and Sylvia Harper. He was the third of seven children.
A TIME TO LEARN
Joseph was educated in the Glades area schools, completing his formal education as a graduate of Lake Shore High School Class of 1968.
Following graduation, Joseph attended Bethune Cookman College before being drafted into the United States Army from 1971-1973. Joseph was never known to stay in one place too long and worked many jobs over the years. He proudly protected students at Georgetown University, while living in DC and after moving to Florence, SC, he enjoyed working a "sweet gig" as a security guard at the Piggly Wiggly and retired in October 2013.
A TIME TO SAY FAREWELL
"Joe" "Joe", as he was known to his siblings, transitioned to life everlasting on Friday, September 9, 2022, meeting his parents, Albert and Sylvia, and three brothers, William, Albert, Jr., and Robert Earl, at the river of Jordan.
A TIME TO SAY, "FAREWELL, I'M GOING HOME"
Joseph will always be remembered as a teacher of life; he always shared wisdom and knowledge whenever he could, and he was a jokester; he always kept his family and friends laughing and always said the funniest things no matter the occasion, he never let his worries weigh him down and believed in laughing life's troubles away. Joseph believed in the Lord and put his trust in Him completely, as he was taught from childhood. He loved football and would often sit in his favorite chair to watch the Washington Redskins play.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of sixteen years, Naomi Harper; one son: Joseph Harper, Jr.; two daughters: Gena Powers and Panthia Powers of Maryland; two brothers: Tommie (Mary) of Pahokee, and Vance (Gail) of West Palm Beach; one sister: Linda, of Belle Glade; three brothers in law: Mack Brown(Rachel) of Aiken, South Carolina, Dwight Brown(Laymius) of Union South Carolina, Everett Brown of Baltimore, Maryland, special friends: Tawanna Carmichael and Sheldon McClain, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing family members, neighbors, coworkers and friends.
