Obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Ms. Lou Emma George. The family is receiving friends at 113 East Westford Road, Florence. They ask for your prayers during their bereavement.

Ms. Lou Emma George, born June 22, 1958, to Norman and Hesma Brown George. She departed this life on September 25, 2022, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Emma was a proud member of Wilson High School class of 1976. She graduated Cum Laude from Benedict College in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration. Emma retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in 2020 after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, John Paul Jones Road.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman George III, a nephew, Yasin Sims, Gloria Ann Brown, and a brother-in-law, Richard Saaleem Sims.

Left to cherish her precious memories are: one brother, Larry (Sandra) George; four sisters, Annie George-Sims, Doris George, Glenda George, and Cathy-George-Washington; her precious nieces and nephews: Amy (Jimmy) Planter, Deitra (William) Stewart, Myron (Tiwander) Greene, Norman George IV, Yusuf Sims, Rahmaan Sims, Alphonso Greene, Jr., Rahim Sims (Shahara), Abu-Bakr Sims, Shanda George, Darius George, Saaleem Sims, Makkah (Charvis) Sims- Goodman, Eboni Greene, Larikia George, Samantha (Terrell) George-Mack, Gordon Washington, Jr., Larryon George, and Casma Washington; numerous great nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Alphonso Greene and Gordon Washington, Sr.; three aunts, Mary Brown, Dorothy George, and Annie Bell George; an adoptive Mom, Mrs. Jessie Mae Harley; a host of family and friends.
