Mae Helen Brown

Mae Helen Brown, daughter of the late Porter and Frances Johnson Brown, was born on July 22, 1948, in Florence, South Carolina. On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 7:10 a.m., she made her transition to be with the Lord at McLeod Hospice House.

Mae Helen graduated from Wilson High School. Upon graduating, she attended Adult and Community Education, where she obtained her Nursing Assistant certificate. She dedicated 41 years of outstanding service as Executive Housekeeper at Ramada at Young's Plantation.

Mae Helen was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and played the piano. Helen enjoyed working outside in her flower garden, attending yard sales, and playing the piano.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Roosevelt, Sarah, John T., Catherine, Evelena, Porter, and Annie Mae.

Left to cherish precious memories are: one sister, Betty (Sam) Hypolite of Riverdale, Georgia; one brother, Harry Brown of Darlington, South Carolina; one special nephew, Christopher (Tajuannda) Brown of Charleston, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law, Eddie Mae Brown, Lubertha Brown, Delores Brown, and Norma Jean Brown; those special to her heart: Evangelist Birdie Mae (caretaker), Edna Pugh, Andrea, Shelia, Kathy, Irene, Willie Mae, and Greg (nephew); along with nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
