Obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Marvin Miller. The family is receiving friends at 1005 Carver St., Florence.

Mr. Marvin Lee Miller aka "Uncle Buh "was born on July 13, 1949 in Florence, S.C., son of the late Mr. Charlie and Dora Sumter-Martin Miller.  He transitioned into eternal rest on May 12, 2024 at his home. Marvin was educated in Florence Public Schools. Marvin was employed with Pee Dee Pool and Spa and Price Pools for over 30+ years. Marvin loves his family and community. He would go an extra mile to do his diligence by serving others.

"Uncle Buh" was what you called "A sun up! A sun down man!" You would see him working from as early as 5am in the morning until the sun goes down in the evenings. "Uncle Buh" was always doing something for someone whether it was having a conversation, taking them to work, or doing odd end jobs. He was very dependable, reliable, and he didn't mind helping at all. He was always generous and soft spoken with kind words. Last but not least, "Uncle Buh" was a man of God. He loved the word and he would show it by his character and his thoughtfulness.

Marvin also had a passion for golf. He often played on the recreational park. You would also find "Uncle Buh" cleaning up the park afterwards. Marvin was also a dedicated man whom love church. He walked to Carver Street Baptist Church and attend their services. Later on, when Marvin fell sick, he still continued to worship and praise God by watching pastors speak on television. One day "Uncle Buh" was introduced to Gino Jennings by his nephew Timothy (Kojak). "Uncle Buh" was so intrigued by Gino's preaching that he later became a member of First Church Our Lord Jesus Christ under the leadership of Pastor Gino Jennings-- Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38. You would find "Uncle Buh" telling you about his pastor, and was honorable to live by the word of God.

"Uncle Buh" not only accepted his family, but he was the "Unk" when you were introduced to him, and he would embrace you as a family member. "Uncle Buh" was a God-fearing man whom was reared by a virtuous woman by the name of Dora Sumter- Martin Miller. May the eternal light of your ancestor continually shine on your path.
