Richard McQuillar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his church, passed away, leaving a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion.
Born on July 4, 1944, in Bishopville, South Carolina, Richard was the son of the late Eddie McQuillar and Minnie Lee McShore McQuillar.
Richard received his education in the Lee County Public Schools. A devout man of faith, he was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, where he dedicated himself to various roles, including trustee, head of maintenance, and former President of the COC Mass Choir, serving faithfully until his health no longer allowed. Professionally, Richard was employed by Vulcraft and Trayco Industrial. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, he later opened and successfully operated a fabric shop for several years.
On April 20th, 1968, Richard was united in holy matrimony to Nettie Lee McNeil. Their loving union was blessed with four children.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Nettie Lee McQuillar, and their children: Ricky (Shawanna) McQuillar, Marsha Dupree, Tonya (Willie) Green, and Antron (Erica) McQuillar, all of Florence, South Carolina. He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Latisha (La'Quan) Jenkins of Richmond, VA, whom he lovingly raised in his home alongside his wife; Jaaron (Katelyn) Pringle of Florence, SC, Quinton (Derrisetta)Pringle of Columbia, SC; special granddaughter Lakevia McQuillar of Florence, SC; Malik of Florence, SC; Davion McQuillar of Florence, SC; Quadrick McQuillar of Florence, SC; Jayquan Godbolt of Florence, SC; Drayton and Kingston Green of Effingham, SC; and Tiffany (Ricky) Williams of Charleston, SC. He was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren. ; Richard is survived by his four sisters: Mary Wilson of Bronx, NY; Minnie Sue McCall of Florence, SC; Paulette (James) Harkless of Leland, NC; and Annie Hamby of Lamar, SC. He also leaves behind two brothers, John McQuillar of Meridian, CT, and James (Calperta) McQuillar of Mount Vernon, NY, as well as three brothers-in-law; Johnnie (Patricia)McNeil Jr., Earl McNeil, and Willie B(Nadine)Evans of Lamar, SC. Additionally, he is survived by his two goddaughters, Karen Brown of Florence, SC, and Annette (Ernest Lee) Timmons of Bishopville, SC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
