Ms. Sadie Lee Swinton was born the second eldest child of Zollie Swinton and Alice Ham Swinton on February 4, 1930, in Florence County, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life at Mcleod Regional Center on August 7, 2025, at the tender age of 95.

Sadie received her education in the public schools of Florence County. Upon graduating she
moved to the Boston, Massachusetts area along with several of her siblings. She worked at
Emerson College for over 30 years. While in the Boston area, she worshipped at Massachusetts
Avenue Baptist Church along with her brother Deacon WC Swinton, and sisters Maebelle and
Calpertia. In 1990, she took an early retirement and relocated to Columbia, South Carolina.
"Sadie" ultimately relocated back to her roots in Florence County and resumed her historical
family church membership at the beloved Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Timmonsville, South
Carolina.

"Sadie" was a very quiet but observant spirit. She loved her family and would often talk about
trips to Niagara Falls and Canada along with her family. She spent the last 12 years of her life as
a beloved resident at The Heritage Nursing Home in Florence, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, "Sadie" was preceded in death by three brothers, W.C. Swinton, Zollie
Swinton Jr, and Eugene Swinton; and two sisters; Calpertia Swinton and Mae Belle Swinton
(Edwards).

She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved family including her sisters Dorothy Fulmore and Eva Mae Fulmore. One brother Wesley (Ruth) Swinton all of Florence, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will forever remember her quiet strength, love for life, and the warmth of her presence.
