Travis Lavelle
Hunter
d. Feb 18, 2026
Travis Lavelle James Hunter was born on November 23, 1979, in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Edwards James and Willie Mae Hunter. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Travis attended Wilson High School. He later established his own lawn care service, where he worked diligently and took pride in serving his community. Travis also attended Carver Street Baptist Church. He was a loving and caring family man who valued the time he spent with those he loved.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, Edwards James.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his beloved wife, Rachael Cottingham; his mother, Willie Mae Hunter; three children, Ashunity Brunson, Zanetta Godbolt, and Trayquan Hunter, all of Florence, South Carolina; his stepchildren, Davione Cottingham, Raysanna Cottingham, Montez Cottingham, Irianna Cottingham, Jonay Minnick, and Nay'omi Ferison, all of Florence, South Carolina; and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by four sisters, Victoria Hunter, Vadia Hunter, Jennifer Parrott, and Tasha James; three brothers, Troy Hunter, Willie James, and Edward Hines, all of Florence, South Carolina; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Travis carried himself with warmth and humility. He always put others before himself. His generosity was not measured in grand gestures, but in the everyday acts of thoughtfulness that spoke volumes. Travis believed in treating people with respect and understanding, and he lived that belief each day. Those who knew him will remember his comforting, steady support and the genuine way he cared for others.
Though he is no longer here with us, the example he set through his kindness and hopeful spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be missed immensely.
