Obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Virginia Hilton.  The family is receiving friends at 3629 Gable Terrace, Florence, SC.

Virginia Hilton was born on May 10, 1939, to the late Elizabeth Damian and George Henry Brown. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Affectionately known as Mother Hilton, she received that cherished title from her church family and her pastor, the late Melvin Fryzen, at Little Star Holiness Church in Coward, South Carolina. She served faithfully there until her health began to decline.

Mother Hilton received her education in the Lynchburg and Lee County school systems. Mount Pleasant Church was her family church home before she later moved to Florence County.

Loved by so many, she was known as Mother Hilton or Grandma to the children and community alike. She was one of the sweetest and most kindhearted souls—always speaking of the Lord and walking in His light. She loved her Bible dearly and carried it with her everywhere she went.

Mother Hilton leaves to cherish her loving memory :five daughters, Mary Davis, Mary Hart, Shirley Wilson (Thaddeus), Patricia Wilson (Arthur), and Ruthie Hilton; two sons, John Henry Hilton, Sr. (Lillie Mae) and Calvin Hilton (Valerie); sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
